CA Assessment of Student Performance and Progress

About the Smarter Balanced Assessments

  • What grade levels are participating in the Smarter Balanced assessments?
    • Students in grades 3–8 and 11 participate in Smarter Balanced assessments in English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics.
  • What are the components of the Smarter Balanced assessments?
    • The Smarter Balanced assessments comprise two components: the computer adaptive component (CAT) and the performance tasks (PTs).
  • What is the difference between a test segment and a test session?
    • A test segment is an allocated preset group of items. A test session is a unit of time scheduled for a group of students in a room for testing. California Healthy Kids Survey

California Healthy Kids Survey is for our 9th and 11th grade students.

This survey provides information that will help our school to:

(1) address the needs of students that are barriers to learning and overall well-being,

(2) improve school safety and both learning and teaching conditions, and, ultimately,

(3) improve school attendance, academic performance, and graduation.

All 9th and 11th grade students whose parents have not opted them out will take the California Healthy Kids Survey.
